About the IBAN

The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standardized international code that identifies a specific bank account.

The Portuguese IBAN has 25 characters and is structured as follows:

• PT: Country code (Portugal)
• 50: IBAN control digits (always 50 for Portugal)
• 4 digits: Bank code
• 4 digits: Branch code
• 11 digits: Account number
• 2 digits: NIB (Bank Identification Number) control digits
